📱 1. Subscribe to an SMS plan with OVH
To send SMS messages from blgCloud, you need an SMS plan with OVH.
Go to the OVH website and subscribe to the Standard SMS plan.
🔑 2. Generate OVH API keys
Once your OVH SMS account is available, you need to generate the keys that allow blgCloud to communicate with your OVH account.
Log in to your OVH account, then go to the key creation page:
Enter the required permissions as shown below.
Then click Create Keys.
💡 Please note: keep this window open. You will need to copy the generated information into the OVH SMS external identifier in blgCloud.
⚙️ 3. Configure the SMS service in blgCloud
To configure the service, you must be an administrator or have the required permissions to access external identifiers.
Go to Administration > External Identifiers.
Click the + button to create a new external identifier.
In the External service field, search for and select OVH SMS.
Enter the required information:
- External service: select OVH SMS.
- Title: the title is automatically set to the service name by default, but you can change it.
- Name: this field is completed automatically.
- Active: enables or disables the external identifier.
- Shared with: define the users or companies that can use this identifier.
- Chat channel for execution error reports: if necessary, select the internal chat channel that should receive the reports.
- Allow execution on the test instance: enable this option if you want to perform tests in your test environment.
Then copy the information previously generated by OVH into the following fields:
- Application key;
- Application secret key;
- Consumer key.
Then click Save.
💬 4. Send an SMS to a customer
You can send an SMS from a sale or a contract.
Open the relevant document, then click the SMS button in the top-right corner.
A window opens where you can select one or more recipient contacts.
Thanks to the OVH SMS external identifier, blgCloud also displays:
- the remaining SMS credits available on the OVH account;
- the number of characters in the message.
💡 Please note: when a contact has multiple phone numbers, blgCloud automatically selects the priority number in the following order: business mobile, personal mobile, then business landline.
📨 5. Can you send bulk SMS messages?
No. Bulk SMS sending is currently not available in blgCloud.
💡 Please note: this feature is planned for a future update, along with the ability to create your own SMS templates.
✨ 6. Use a custom sender
For security reasons, OVH no longer allows SMS messages containing URLs to be sent without a custom sender.
If you want to include a link in your SMS messages, you must use a custom sender approved by OVH.
From your OVH customer account, go to the Sender section, then click Add a sender.
Complete the information requested in the form.
OVH may ask you to upload a Kbis in order to validate the sender.
💡 Please note: OVH may take a few days to validate the sender.
Once your sender has been validated, you can use your company name as the SMS sender.
Then go back to Administration > External Identifiers, open your OVH SMS identifier, and enter this value in the Custom sender field.
🎉 Congratulations, you have completed this tutorial!
You now know how to configure your OVH account and send SMS messages to your customers from blgCloud.
